Candy Halliday received her “B.S.” Degree from The School of Hard Knocks. Majoring in “Doing Things the Hard Way” also prompted her to take a crash course in Curve Ball Dodging 101 from esteemed professor Life-Isn’t-Fair.
Unlike the savvy women she likes to write about, Candy says she must have been taking a quick bathroom break when Life came down the line passing out those “Savvy For Dummies” handbooks. She married too young, divorced too soon, and struggled through most of her adult life as a single mom. The good news is, just like in one of her romantic comedies, there is a happy ending to this story.
The second time around, Candy got it right.
Her husband (of 18 years now) claims her being born on April Fool’s Day is the reason Candy views life and love with a somewhat humorous eye. But Candy believes the ability to laugh at yourself and at any given situation will always keep you afloat. Regardless of her rather bumpy start in life, Candy says she couldn’t be more blessed than she is today.
Her patient and loving husband still puts up with her, even though she admits she turns into Wifezilla when she’s under a deadline. She’s had the privilege of watching her wonderful daughter grow into a beautiful woman, a loving wife, and a terrific mother. Candy claims her amazing son-in-law couldn’t be more perfect if she’d hand-picked him herself. And her two fabulous grandchildren, Quint and Caroline, are truly at the center of her happiness.
Another bit of trivia you might find amusing about Candy, is that she sold her first book to Harlequin Duets the year she turned fifty. Proof, Candy says, that age is only a number, and that dreams really can come true during any stage of your life.
Candy feels extremely fortunate to have written four category romantic comedies for Harlequin Duets before the line closed in 2003. To date, her Duets have been published in nine foreign countries around the world.
Today, Candy writes single title romance for the Hachette Book Group (formerly Warner Books).
Candy lives in the Piedmont of North Carolina with her husband “Blue,” a spastic schnauzer named Millie, and an impossible attack cat named Flash. Her daughter and her family live close by. Never too busy for readers, Candy would love to hear from you, so please drop her a line.
